Where do Carmela Martí’s fabric remains go?

More than a climate change, what we are experiencing is a climate emergency that urgently demands we change our way of living and become more responsible. At Carmela Decoración, we are fully aware of this reality and are committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the Paris Agreement. The main goal of this agreement is to strengthen the global response to the threat of climate change. That’s why we have not only launched a line of sustainable products but also set a goal of zero waste.

NO WASTE, LET’S CREATE BEAUTIFUL THINGS!

When cutting fabrics to make different items, there are always leftovers. Some are very small and not worth keeping. We also have sample collections from past seasons and discontinued fabrics that we can no longer use in projects. Until a few years ago, these fabric scraps were thrown away, generating a large amount of waste. Now we have opened our eyes, and we are committed to protecting our planet and reducing the irresponsible consumption of natural resources. Our goal is to join forces with companies or associations that share our vision and take action. That is why we have developed several collaboration lines to give these materials a second life.

PILLOWS4LIFE

Pillows4life is a non-profit organization that uses many of our fabric scraps to create original designs. They follow an artisanal method, creating unique designs by combining textures, patterns, and colors from different fabric scraps. With this process, we seek to promote the culture of recycling.

REMATCHING BAGS At Carmela, we are passionate about fabrics, so we couldn’t resist keeping some of these fabric scraps to produce our own design: the REMATCHING bags. We use these bags to carry samples on client visits, but they are also the perfect accessory for going to the beach. Creativity turns textile scraps into useful and original designs.

REGENERATED Production waste is collected and shredded to produce new yarn. These fabric scraps are sorted by color to create yarns in different shades without the need for re-dyeing. This results in enormous savings in water and chemicals. With these small initiatives, we join many other companies working towards a more sustainable world.
