Curtain rails: different types, characteristics and possibilities
Check the different kinds of curtain rails, each designed for diverse spaces
Curtains play a significant role in shaping our overall experience at hotels. They contribute to the ambiance, privacy, and comfort of our stay, together with the chance of choosing the amount of light we want to let into the room. Just as there is a wide range of curtains, there are also different types of rails to hang them.
What is a Curtain Rail?
A curtain rail is a metal or PVC guide that allows you to hang the fabric from the ceiling. Its difference from a rod is that it includes semi-hidden movable gliders to which the curtain is attached with hooks, meaning rings are not needed. Its function is to move the curtain laterally with ease, and they are practically invisible.
Types of Curtain Rails
At Carmela Martí, we work with many types of curtain rails that adapt to the needs of any fabric and space. Here are some of them:
Single-track rail: This accommodates only one fabric, either a sheer or blackout curtain. It is often hidden behind a pelmet. If it is not hidden, we have various more aesthetic models with different finishes to make them less noticeable.

Single-track rail
Double-track rail: This is used to combine a blackout curtain and a sheer on the same rail. It is usually hidden in the pelmet.

Double-track rail
Triple-track rail: Its main advantage is that it allows you to create a dark environment by overlapping curtains and completely blocking out light. These types of rails are perfect for placing in bedrooms.

Perfect wave rail
Perfect wave rail: This system keeps the waves of the curtains perfectly symmetrical, whether extended or gathered, due to the exact spacing between each hook. Its aesthetic effect has made it a trend in recent years, making it one of the most demanded rails.

Flexible rail
Flexible and bendable rails: These offer the possibility to adapt to the surface they are on, for example, to cover angled windows. It is worth noting that circular-shaped curtains are currently gaining special importance in rooms.
Motorized rails: These allow for the opening and closing of curtains remotely. They are operated via a remote control and the rail is connected to the electrical network. They are especially useful for large windows where the curtains are heavy or in spaces where the curtains are out of direct reach.

Decorative rail
Decorative rails: In cases where the rail cannot be hidden behind a pelmet, this option is ideal due to the various finishes it can adopt. Thus, the type of curtain rail should be chosen according to the décor to create a comfortable environment and align with the establishment’s identity.
Therefore, depending on the curtain you want to install in the room, there is a suitable rail to give a special touch and make the guest’s stay even more pleasant.
